"It's always cold in the tunnels, especially now that the night air is seeping from the blackened windows above. There is enough light, though: as the tunnels are now included into the route of the lamp men, the corridors and chambers are illuminated with large oil lamps just like any room above, and candles are standing tall and fresh in their sconces" (1).
